books are breath

A life without books is a very hollow existence indeed. Nothing else has the power to make me laugh out loud, cry like a baby, or scream in rage like reading a book can. I am open to all genres and am willing to give almost anything a try, even if it's outside my normal scope. My faves are thrillers/suspense but I am also into paranormal, drama, chick lit and YA. This is my first blog, so forgive my ignorance and if you see something I can improve, do tell. :)

Review: The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith

The Cuckoo's Calling - Robert Galbraith

I absolutely loved it. I'm so glad I finally broke down and read it. I have not read any of JK Rowling's work outside of the Harry Potter series because I didn't want to chance hating it and breaking the spell or ruining the magic of Harry Potter for me. (See what I did there? Ha ha!) So it took a couple days for me to get drawn into the story but when I did, I was hooked. It's a very smart and sometimes cheeky detective story and I thought I knew whodunnit but I was wrong! The conclusion thrilled me and I loved the way it was all tied together. I'm very much looking forward to reading the second book in the Cormoran Strike series. I'm requesting it from the library now.
