books are breath

A life without books is a very hollow existence indeed. Nothing else has the power to make me laugh out loud, cry like a baby, or scream in rage like reading a book can. I am open to all genres and am willing to give almost anything a try, even if it's outside my normal scope. My faves are thrillers/suspense but I am also into paranormal, drama, chick lit and YA. This is my first blog, so forgive my ignorance and if you see something I can improve, do tell. :)

Review: The Hurricane Sisters by Dorothea Benton Frank

The Hurricane Sisters - Dorothea Benton Frank

I love almost all her books because they are set in the Carolinas, my home sweet home. Frank has the ability to bring the smell of pluff mud and briny water into your home and it's so descriptive, you'll wish you WERE there. I enjoyed this story going back and forth from character to character to tell it from their view point. But since there are only 3, it's not too confusing to keep straight. My favorite person in the book is the sassy grandma, Maisie. She brings a laugh and lightness to the story. I liked this book, a lot. :)
